Emotional. Roller. Coaster.
I think I might have overbooked myself recently. As soon as I received a kink in the chain, it began to unravel like a sweater... It still remains one of those cute little capulets - but it is no longer a sweater. I am missing my other half quite frequently between night school, full time work, lots of overtime to be done, study time and time for himself. I am beginning to feel as though I am alone but not really. This is a very unsettling feeling.
Compassion grows within me for moms with many children and no husband around for whatever reason. I told a good friend of mine this recently and she replied, "yes, except you do not recieve any kind of assistance and you are with your children 24-7 instead of having (or being able to at some moments) work." Ah yes this is true. But y'all help me out of this pity party please.
I want a moment to get my toes all pretty, go eat lunch or dinner with a friend, go for a run in a decent neighborhood (not mine that's for sure), date my husband, leave the house for a quick errand. I know this will all be over soon and life will carry on and I should look at the ups instead of the downs. Optimism is usually where I lean (at least I think I do). Lately it is blanketed by a dark gray mass and I am not sure when it will lift. Happiness and rainbows are tucked away somewhere for a bit...maybe in my armpits?
I am glad I am not sick like I thought I was. I believe I developed an allergy to - of all things - cod (or maybe pollock). Therefore, I puke when I eat it. Lovely reaction but I suppose it could be much worse! I need to make an appointment to see an allergist as I would like to know definitely if I have the allergy to latex as well - oh yeah and milk and bananas and dust and kiwi and and and ....

Sunday Sampler
Revelation (lds.org):
"Revelation is communication from God to His children. This guidance comes through various channels according to the needs and circumstances of individuals, families, and the Church as a whole. When the Lord reveals His will to the Church, He speaks through His prophet. Prophets are the only people who can receive revelation for the Church, but they are not the only people who can receive revelation. According to our faithfulness, we can receive revelation to help us with our specific personal needs, responsibilities, and questions and to help us strengthen our testimony."
The only way to receive revelation is through following the commandments, continuing to follow Christ's example, and finally through prayer. If we do not ask for help or guidance, it is hard to know what to do in a spiritual sense. We may be inundated with worldly knowledge and/or pressure from others in our life, but we must determine for our own welfare what the Lord would have us do. This is how a personal revelation is received.

Family Friday
Since I am making a few changes with my blog routine, I will add I am changing Faith-Building Friday to Family Friday. I just bought a camera and am so excited to take pictures and journal some of my family happenings. I noticed I hardly do that now with the current routine. I am going to add my faith-building moments to Sunday Sampler since that is where I already post spiritual lessons I have learned...and Saturdays will now be my day off since Jess is attending school and we feel weekends are too special to us for the time being. Besides, Family Friday will probably contain many silly moments for us since our family can be - well - pretty silly. Hope you all have a very pleasant day and thanks for stopping by to check out our latest happenings!

Tackling-It Tuesday
Per request I will from now on let you know the next Tuesday how my tackling went and if it got done. I might even post pictures. Hmmmm...
For this week, I am planning on the following:
Scrub the tubs. I can't believe I let it go for so long!
Buy flowers to spruce up the place and make it less depressing with all the gloomy rain lately.
Get through 2 boxes of memorabilia and store properly.
Take wedding dress to the cleaners and get it stored properly as well.
Scrub T-man's high chair - YUCK!
Change the "scenery" in the living room. (Decor) I would looove to buy or (better yet) make a few cute pumpkin pillows for the season.
Clean out the unused fish tank and send it off to B-man's school.
Vacuum under the beds.
Let's see how far I get now, should we?

Sunday Sampler
We were privelaged today to hear two brethren from The Quorum of the Seventy of our LDS church speak to us today. They spoke about treating others with care and keeping Heavenly Father's will in our choices. They also spoke about attending the temple. The temple is a sanctuary from the world where we can be at peace and communicate more clearly with the Lord. I love the temple and need to return soon.
Silly Saturday
We were out driving along the streets of Anchorage, Alaska on a very busy shopping day (not us but the whole rest of Alaska). The Little Princess was staring out her side window and suddenly belted out, "THAT IS A BIIIIIG CHIHUAHUA!!!" We all looked over and saw a German Shepherd slobbering out his owners side window staring straight at her. It cracked us up and Jess and I chuckled. If only I could see things through a sweet child's eyes!
I suppose I can see a bit of a resemblance.... in some morphed way!

Faith-Building Friday
Something that helps remind me there is good and happiness in this world is a news site that reports only good reports:
http://www.happynews.com/
and especially this section:
http://www.happynews.com/category/heroes.htm
What does this have to do with building faith? Reading through this site reminds me the world is not doom and gloom and people can choose to seek for happiness and peace in their lives. I have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his happiness and peace he brought to Earth. I have faith Heavenly Father sent Christ to us so we have an example of perfect love. Perfect love is said to be charity. Charity of time, efforts, objects, earnings... whatever a person might have to give. Many of the stories on Happy News report of wonderful charitable deeds. I am grateful someone took the time to seek for goodness in the world and report it to anyone interested. This goodness helps to build my faith.

Tackling It Tuesday
To tackle this week:
Extra boxes around house are to be sorted, emptied and tossed.
Kids bulletin board set up in the hallway for projects, reading lists, exercise program, fun activity ideas, etc.
Paintings matted and hung along with mail sorter.
Kids toys and clothes sorted before the holiday season begins.
The car needs an overhaul - inside and out!
I feel like Martha Stewart with her little calendar of things to get done for the month for everyone to see. I always thought those things seemed boring. I still do. Sorry if I bore you, but these cleaning lists are more for me than you I am sure! :0l

Sunday Sampler
FamilySearch is very user-friendly and connects old records with new. I am excited to do my genealogy but need to find the right time to do it. I think Sunday nights are convenient. What better way to connect with our family which has passed away than on the Sabbath Day?

Today, a man from our church ward explained that this may very well be the last time he is able to bear his testimony or the things about church, Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, the gospel, etc. to be true and he touched us all with his testimony. He is an elderly man who is ill and knows his time comes when he will pass the veil from our world here on to the next. I appreciated his testimony and the peace he brought to us. Everyone I saw was dabbing their eyes. I hope when it is my time, I have peace in my heart like he does his.

Faith-Building Friday
A series of shows I am really interested in seeing come October...too bad we don't have the Discovery Channel: I Shouldn't Be Alive
I think this show (besides it's shock value) of survival should be full of faith-building moments and what I heard in my recent book club meeting as "tender mercies."
Elder Bednar gave a talk in April of 2005 concerning the tender mercy of the Lord:
"I testify that the tender mercies of the Lord are available to all of us and that the Redeemer of Israel is eager to bestow such gifts upon us," Elder Bednar states.
He also states, "Thus, the Father's work is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of His children. Our work is to keep His commandments with all of our might, mind, and strength—and we thereby become chosen and, through the Holy Ghost, receive and recognize the tender mercies of the Lord in our daily lives."
I do not think I take the time to ponder the tender mercies Heavenly Father gives me daily...but I know there are many. It was also mentioned in the book club meeting a friend of one of our book club members keeps a Tender Mercy Journal. I find this idea refreshing and the journal is sure to make an uplifting memoir for anyone. I think I will try to make a journal like this for myself. I know that if I do this, I will receive more spiritual experiences every day. I will be enlightened ever more so to the love I receive all the time from the Lord.
A book we just read titled The Ultimate Gift spoke of gratitude. The idea was mentioned to make your own Golden Tablet which contains 10 things you are most grateful for. The idea is to wake up and think of your Golden Tablet immediately so you remember the gifts you have every day. This also sounds like a brilliant idea. I will try to implement this in my life as well.
I look forward to these faith-building activities and hope I can love and live a life more full every day.
